A young man saw an old man who was peaceful and successful. He asked, “Sir, what’s your secret?” The old man said, “I avoid arguments. When someone insists they’re right, I just say ‘You are right.’” The young man scoffed, “Isn’t that weakness?” The old man smiled, “You are right.” And walked away in peace.
Friend, wisdom is a weapon of victory (Ecclesiastes 7:12). Many people respect power but despise wisdom. They think wisdom is passive and power is active. But wisdom is power. Power without wisdom destroys. You need both (Jeremiah 10:12).
Prayer makes you powerful, but the Word makes you wise (2 Timothy 3:15). The early church gave themselves to prayer and the ministry of the Word (Acts 6:4). Christianity built only on prayer becomes noisy. Christianity built only on the Word becomes dry. We need prayer and the Word.
People fall into error when they don’t know the wisdom of God or the power of God (Matthew 22:29). Jesus is both wisdom and power (1 Corinthians 1:24). Don’t chase power alone. Don’t settle for wisdom alone. A Christian with power but no wisdom will crash. A Christian with wisdom but no power will be stuck.
God wants you to win with wisdom (Ecclesiastes 10:10). Wisdom helps you know which battles to fight and which to ignore (1 Samuel 17:28-30). It teaches you when to speak and when to be silent (1 Chronicles 12:32). Wisdom saves you energy. Instead of fighting every battle, you win the right ones and walk away from the rest.
Divine wisdom shows up as discretion, prudence, and subtlety (Proverbs 1:1-4). Discretion tells you how to act. Prudence helps you manage people and resources. Subtlety makes you strategic. The same God who gave Solomon wisdom is ready to give you if you ask (1 Kings 3:5-13).
