I read a profound statement some years ago that changed my perspective on life: “Those who do things that count don’t stop to count them.” It blessed and shaped my philosophy about life.
Friend, do you know what truly counts (Matthew 6:33)? It’s a waste of time and resources to chase things that don’t matter. Unfortunately, many people focus on the wrong things. We live in a society where appearances matter, and many people seek attention (Isaiah 42:1-4).
Seeking validation from others leads to disappointment (John 5:44). God wants you to live with purpose and significance. To live a life of purpose and peace, prioritize your relationship with God. Seek God’s approval, not human recognition. Focus on what truly matters (Matthew 17:5).
Those who focus on what matters don’t track their progress (Proverbs 12:9). Don’t exaggerate or seek to draw attention to yourself. I’ve learned that being underrated is better than being overhyped. Actions speak louder than words. Focus on your work and let your results speak for themselves (SoS 1:6).
Prioritizing what matters starts with understanding God’s values. What humans value may not align with God’s values (Luke 16:15). God values a deep relationship with you, prioritize it. God values righteousness, justice, and truth, make them your priority (Psalm 89:14).
When we lose focus, movements become monuments (Philippians 3:12-14). When you treat the journey as a destination, you sabotage your future. Those who want to make a difference focus on God’s future. They don’t compare themselves with others nor compete with anyone (2 Corinthians 10:12). They do what truly counts.
