I heard the story of a missionary who was sent to another continent on mission work. He did not know anyone over there prior to the time, but God assured him He would sort Him out. He went in faith. To his surprise, he was met with a family who had been instructed by God to receive and take care of him all through his stay. He was encouraged to know his bill was on God.
Friend, when you are in the will of God, you can rest assured that He will foot the bill (Ephesians 1:11, 3:20). The most expensive journey you would ever take is the journey outside of the will of God, and the cheapest journey is the journey in the will of God. Like Jonah, a lot of people are paying dearly for what their greed or flesh initiates (Jonah 1:3). God will not sponsor what He did not author.
Getting the mind of God on a matter is not only the safest thing to do. It is also the wisest thing to do (Matthew 26:39). There is peace and contentment in staying in the will of God. There is also ease and speed. The will of God for you will take you miles ahead of where your personal effort and carnal desire will take you (Acts 26:19, 22).
Getting God to sponsor what He did not author is like asking someone to father the child he did not birth (Genesis 22:2). Perhaps this is the reason a lot of Christians are calling God unfaithful. They want Him to father what He did not give birth to. They want Him to sponsor their own plans, not His own plans. This is one of the litmus tests for accuracy of purpose and direction (Philippians 4:19).
God does not stifle His work of resources. If what you are doing seemed underresourced, you need to check the paternity of it (Luke 22:35). It is an act of God’s favour and faithfulness when He ensures that you are frustrated on the wrong journey. You need to be careful of succeeding out of the will of God. Sometimes, too much money can make people derail from God’s plan and purpose (Ecclesiastes 2:1-15).
The fact that you can afford something does not mean you should go for it (Acts 9:6). Your bill must be on God. Any venture that would not require you to pray and believe God may be putting you at risk. The good news is that no matter how expensive it is, if God is in it, it would be funded. When you are following God’s will, you are not taking a risk. You are taking a rest (Hebrews 4:9-10).
