As we were wrapping up our national youth service that year, a young man came to meet me and said; “I wish I had the same background you had, it would have made a difference in my life. I know I lack the right training.” I told him; “It’s not too late. You can pick up from here and get trained.” He heeded the counsel and it helped him greatly afterwards.
Friend, you need training. Every man is ordinary until he is trained. Training is what brings stamina and specialness. The truth is, it is not the external pressure that crushes us but internal emptiness. It is not the evil in the business place that made you backslide, it is your lack of required capacity.
It is not that politics is evil or tempting that made people dubious in practice, it is the lack of correct Christian training. That you are a nagging wife is not because of the type of husband you married, it is because you are not properly trained and developed for life and living (Judges 4:4).
Everyone requires basic capacities to be able to function effectively in the world, representing God and fulfilling destiny. Christianity is not only a name we answer to, but a calling we receive to follow Jesus and be made for correct kingdom representation (Matthew 4:19). You need to make yourself available for divine training and molding.
May be you did not take your walk with the Lord serious with the deception that “I’m not going into the ministry”, forgetting that we are all in the ministry (2 Corinthians 5:18, Colossians 4:17). We need medical doctors like Luke (Colossians 4:14). We need legal practitioners like Deborah (Judges 4:4). We need business men like Abraham, Job etc (Genesis 13:2, Job 1:1-3).
We need public administrators like Daniel (Daniel 6:28, 9:1-2). We need economists like Joseph (Genesis 41:53-57). We need lawyers like Zenas (Titus 3:13). We need building engineers like Aquila and Priscilla (Acts 18:1-3, Romans 16:3, 1 Corinthians 16:19). These are people who did not only function secularly but also have a sound walk with the Lord that they are relevant to God and His Kingdom.
