A preacher relied on another evangelist for prayer and healing ministrations. However, when the healing evangelist began to feel indispensable and refused to show him, the preacher had to step in. To everyone’s surprise, God worked miracles and healings through the preacher. That was how he broke into his miracle ministry.

Friend, you are not indispensable (1 Corinthians 4:6-7). Anytime you are tempted to think that people or organisations cannot do without you, you are already a few inches away from losing relevance. You need to bury that thought immediately and never allow it to fester (Proverbs 4:23). The only person who is indispensable in the entire universe is God. You are not indispensable.

Learn to handle access and opportunities with soberness and humility (2 Samuel 7:18-20). The fact that something comes easy and cheap for you does not mean it is not of value. The fact that you are given a platform regularly must not make you commonise it (1 Corinthians 4:1-2). Stay humble. Stay grateful. Stay aweful. That is how to stay relevant.

When you treat privileges with the right understanding and attitude, God will keep you relevant in it (Acts 13:36). A lot of people have lost opportunities and platforms because they feel indispensable. Perhaps this was the undoing of Lucifer. He had forgotten that he was created just like every other creature (Isaiah 14:12-15). He wanted to assume God. He wanted to play God.

Truly, that thought that you are indispensable is sponsored by the devil (2 Corinthians 10:5). He fell because of this, so he wants to make you fall. Don’t allow him. Treasure your position and placement in life. Don’t make people feel indebted to you. See who you are and what you do as a privilege. If you were not there, someone else would definitely do it (John 3:27-31). You are not indispensable.

Jesus understood this when He gave a parable about the servants who came from the field to serve his master (Luke 17:7-10). He wants us to see ourselves as mere servants. When the Corinthian church was divided between Paul and Apollos, Paul reminded the church that they were mere servants of God, given the privilege to serve the body (1 Corinthians 3:3-7). Don’t have an overbloated sense of importance.
