Someone looked at my son the other day and remarked; “He looks exactly like you.” I gently and lovingly replied; “Who do you want him to look like?” That simple conversation reminded me about the power of sonship. Every son must look like the father.

Friend, whose son are you (1 Samuel 17:58)? Who do you look like? You need to beware of the disputed fatherhood that has plagued our generation today. There are many people that cannot be traceable to a father somewhere. They look like everybody until they become a nobody (Galatians 4:19). Fatherhood is the key to correct kingdom representation and manifestation.

Jesus constantly talked about His father when he was on earth. By that, he’s showing us the principle of sonship and fatherhood (John 14:7-9). You are to resemble and represent your father. When you don’t look like your father, you cannot act like him. It is first about being before doing (John 1:1-3). People want to sound like their father without spending time to learn from him and look like him.

God wants us to prioritise fellowship above ministry (Mark 3:14). If you cannot spend time with God, you should not step out to represent Him. It is as we behold Him that we are transformed to the same image. Who you constantly look at you would eventually look like (2 Corinthians 3:18). If your fellowship is wrong, your formation and manifestation will be wrong.

The moment people begin to doubt your sonship, you are already showing how much of a bad follower you are (John 1:12). People never doubted the connection of the disciples to Jesus. It showed in their manifestation. You don’t need to tell us who your father is, we would see it in your manifestation. Sons look like their fathers in manifestation (Acts 4:13). This was what we saw in Elisha. He had followed well. What about you?

Have you followed well (2 Kings 2:15)? Who are you following? Who is modelling God, life, and destiny for you to learn from? Don’t confuse instructors with fathers. The fact that you have many people you listen to does not equal kingdom fathering (1 Corinthians 4:15). If too many voices are speaking into your life, you have given an open invitation to the demon of confusion. Whose son are you?
