My wife joined a Zoom program recently. One day, she wasn’t admitted on time and got stuck in the waiting room. She grew anxious and asked, “Dear, could the meeting have started without me? Should I log out and return?” I told her, “Yes, the host can forget you, but don’t log out.” Minutes later, the admin brought her in.

Friend, don’t log out yet. God has not forgotten you (Isaiah 49:15-16). While you wait, questions will come: What’s happening behind the scenes? Why the delay? Did God forget me? Am I in the wrong place? Should I quit and restart? These thoughts fill every heart that waits on God.

Learning to wait well is vital for your walk with God and your destiny (Job 14:14). Like my wife, we often ask the wrong people for answers. *Like Job, friends mean well but may be just as confused as us. They can hurt us while trying to help without knowing it (Job 16:1-6, 42:7).

Don’t let someone who doesn’t know your destiny interpret your season. Some will call you slow. Others will say you lack wisdom. Some will blame sin. Others will demand deliverance. But only God, the Administrator of your life, can explain your wait. He knows why you’re still there.

When you pray, know that God’s answers are not always “yes” or “no.” Often He says “wait” (Psalm 27:13-14, 62:5). Many handle “yes.” Some accept “no.” But few know how to handle “wait” (James 5:7-11). When God says “Wait,” He means wait. No more explanation is needed.

Be encouraged that the One telling you to wait loves you deeply (Psalm 46:10). He is arranging something greater than you imagined. He hasn’t forgotten you. His answer is near. The waiting room may be uncomfortable, but it’s always worth it in the end.
