I will never forget the day our final year project supervisor ordered us out of his office and tossed our drafts across the desk. He was not satisfied with what we had submitted. We walked out, humiliated. But I turned to my team and said, “This moment won’t define me. I’m still getting an A in this course.” Months later, that’s exactly what happened.

Friend, you must understand the power of the right attitude. Truly, winning is an attitude. When it comes to success, attitude is often more important than aptitude (Proverbs 23:7). This is one reason talented people fail — they have the wrong attitude. A bad attitude is like a flat tire: if you don’t fix it, you won’t go anywhere.

You need to fix your attitude. It’s not how life or people treat you that matters; it’s how you respond (2 Corinthians 4:7-14). The real difference between successful people and those who fail is how they approach life and its challenges. Leaders respond with purpose, while followers react in emotion.

Attitude counts for 100 percent. If you assign each letter in ATTITUDE, its numerical value — A = 1, B = 2, and so on — the total comes to 100. No other word does. Once you have the right attitude, everything else begins to fall into place. The right attitude helps you gain the right knowledge and handle failure well (Ecclesiastes 10:10, 15).

Attitude is everything. The right attitude helps you bounce back from failure and handle success without being destroyed by it (Micah 7:8). A person with a bad attitude cannot steward success. For such a person, success becomes a trap instead of a springboard for greater things (2 Chronicles 26:1-16).

The right attitude is attractive. It draws the right opportunities, relationships, and even miracles (2 Kings 5:10-14). Like the Syrophoenician woman, can you endure discouragement on the way to your breakthrough (Mark 7:25-30)? Your attitude will determine that. Truly, winning is an attitude.
