Recently, I spoke to students on campus. I told them God first spoke to me about my wife in year one. I immediately called my pastor and fellowship president. Three years later, I proposed to her. Why the boldness? Because truth isn’t afraid of light. When God speaks, wisdom says: test it, share it, and submit it.

Friend, authentic gold isn’t afraid of fire. A genuine leading from God will survive scrutiny (Zechariah 13:9). Hiding your “revelation” from mature voices is a sign of error. Refusing accountability exposes us to deception and pride. God never meant for us to walk without covering and counsel (Proverbs 27:17).

Be careful of any “word” or leading that only you can confirm. If no one else sees it, you may be in error. Even Paul submitted his gospel to other apostles (Galatians 2:2). Running solo is the fastest way to fall. God places voices around us to steady us (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10).

When Samuel heard God, he ran to Eli. Eli was old, and his eyes were dim, but he had wisdom and a walk with God. Samuel needed that clarity (1 Samuel 3:9). Young people, don’t despise mature leaders around you. Don’t let “revelation” intoxicate you into isolation. God uses seasoned people to interpret, correct, and confirm what He’s saying (Titus 2:2-3).

Know your pastor and spiritual father before big decisions (Proverbs 15:22). Fathers aren’t just ladders. They are bridges over major seasons. Ignore bridges, and you will get stuck or swept away. But bridges are built before they’re needed. Start accountability early. Value and protect it with wisdom, and it will carry you through (Hebrews 13:17).

It is better to be corrected in private by relationships than in public by life (James 5:16). Don’t enter into destiny relationships before listening to accountability. The same God who teaches us to pray also gives us people for key seasons. No matter how spiritual you are, God will place some things in the hearts of others (Proverbs 19:20). Don’t neglect them.
