When my children were much younger, it did not take much time for me to know that they had done something wrong somewhere. I often notice their withdrawal from me or their mum. We would often go out of our way to draw them closer. We always assure them of our love and commitment no matter what they have done wrong.
Friend, stop running away from God (Genesis 3:8-10). Always remember that God’s love and commitment to you are constant no matter what you have done. While you are running away from God, He is looking out for you to receive you (Luke 15:20). But why do people often run away from God?
People run away from God due to a sense of unworthiness (Luke 15:19, 21). That is one of the goals of the devil and sin in your life. It is to make you feel unworthy of God’s love, grace, forgiveness, fellowship, and blessings. But Christ died for you when you were unworthy (Romans 5:8). You don’t go to God based on your worthiness, but based on what Christ has done for you on the cross.
People run away from God when they think that they are better off without God. Your worst days with God are better than your best days with the devil (2 Samuel 24:14). You are better off with God than without Him. Don’t listen to the lie of the devil that you can make it without God. Don’t let him deceive you that you can fix your life or mess without God. You cannot fix you without God.
People run away from God due to shame and pride. They are ashamed of going back to the same God they promised never to disappoint. That was why Judas hanged himself (Matthew 27:3-5). He could not imagine himself in that kind of mess despite the trust that Jesus had for him. He would rather die than repent. Don’t let shame or pride keep you away from God’s saving grace and power.
People run away from God because of the deceitfulness of sin (Proverbs 9:17-18, Hebrews 3:13). Sin may appear sweet, but it would sweep away your destiny. The more you enjoy sin, the more damage it does to your life and destiny. Sin sinks, and it stinks. Go back to God (Luke 15:17-18, Revelation 2:4-5). Get back to fellowship with Him. Get back to church. Get back to your daily life of consecration and devotion. Stop running away from God. Destiny is calling.
