A minister was ordained alongside several colleagues. While they invested in clothes and appearances, he invested in building his capacity for ministry. Years later, they are out of ministry. He is still standing. The difference was priority.
Friend, stop chasing the wrong things. Your priority matters. God does not just ask us to seek the kingdom. He commands us to seek it FIRST (Matthew 6:33). Priority determines position. When you put God first, you will not finish last. When His concerns become your concerns, your concerns become His (Malachi 3:15-18).
Your priorities are not in your words. They are in your choices (Joshua 24:15). Check your calendar. Check your bank statement. You always make time for what matters to you (Acts 6:4). When someone says, “I don’t have time to pray or study the Word,” the issue is not time. It is their priority.
Giving proves priority too (2 Corinthians 8:1-5). The most generous givers are not always the wealthiest or the ones with no bills. They are simply those who have decided that God’s kingdom comes first (Mark 12:41-44). God does not measure your gift by the amount you gave. He measures it by what you kept for yourself.
Prioritizing God means giving Him your best years, not your leftover years (Ecclesiastes 12:1). Don’t spend your strength and youth on things with no eternal weight, then offer God the scraps of your life. He deserves your prime, not your remainder (Colossians 4:17).
Marriage is a stewardship, not a trophy (Proverbs 14:1). Invest in your spouse. Invest in your children. Don’t celebrate other women while neglecting your wife. Instruct your kids (Genesis 18:17-19). Play with them. Answer their endless questions. They won’t be little forever. Set your priorities right, and your life will follow. Amen.
