Someone met my wife years ago and said these words; “I would like to come to your Church. But does your husband see visions? Does he give prophecies?” My wife responded; “Yes, he sees visions from scriptures.” It was obvious that the lady was looking for something beyond just teaching the Bible. But my wife refused to be pressured.

Friend, never promote a man of God above the word of God. People go into error when they leave the word of God and begin to pay attention to what men are saying. The prophecy of scriptures is surer than every other prophecy (2 Peter 1:19-21). You cannot escape paying prices. If you don’t pay the price to learn the word, you would pay prices to buy “anointing oil” or coconut for your healing and deliverance (Hebrews 13:9).

Receiving prophetic word from a man of God is good. It may even look like an easy way out of having to sit with God or learn the word of God, but you would be creating a major loophole that the devil would later exploit. Remember that Saul was used to getting direction from a man of God (Samuel). The moment Samuel was gone, he had to go consult the witch at Endor (1 Samuel 28:1-7).

What will happen to you if your man of God is no longer there (2 Kings 2:3, John 16:7-14)? What will happen to you when you are alone on campus, in another country, or anywhere far from where you can have direct contact with your man of God? This is where your attention to God and His word come in (1 Timothy 4:13-16). That is why pastors must take time to teach the flock; you are to educate the flock, not entertain the flock (Jeremiah 3:15).

Dear man of God, never promote yourself above the provision of scriptures. There is no revelation you can claim to have that should violate the word of God. Like Jesus, when the devil begins to tempt you to go above the temple and throw yourself down, he is planning your downfall. Your safety lies within the context of scriptures (Luke 4:9-13).

The word of God must be enough for you (Psalms 119:89). There are times that there won’t be spectacular manifestations. Don’t be tempted to fabricate or look for one. You do not always need spectacular manifestations. What you need is the supernatural. The word of God is already supernatural. The word of God can do what God can do because God and His word are inseparable (John 1:1).
