When I was running my postgraduate program several years ago, it was a busy season of my life. I was pastoring a young church, working on a job, married, and also had some other itineraries. As we were about to write the final papers, I was tempted to quit; some of my colleagues actually quit. But I made up my mind to finish what I started. I learned that quitting is not an option.
Friend, quitting is not an option. You can cry. You can rest. You can change your approach. You can pray. You can do all you know. But you must never quit. Quitting is not an option. It has been said that winners never quit and quitters never win (2 Timothy 4:6-8). The truth is, all of us have been tempted to quit at one time or the other. If anyone tells you otherwise, he is either lying, insincere, or has simply forgotten.
Most people are tempted to quit at the verge of their breakthroughs (Luke 22:41-43). The temptation becomes stronger when the destination is in view. This is one reason you must not quit. You are closer to the miracle than when you started (Romans 13:11). This is why the devil will do everything possible to let you quit. He would mount pressure. He would discourage you. He would send wrong people your way (Isaiah 42:4).
Quitting will rob you of the opportunity to tell a sweet success story (2 Corinthians 11:21-33). While your success story does not have to include failures and disappointments for it to be sweet, failures and disappointments are your opportunities to tell an intriguing story. Sometimes, people who have not been through it all are not worth listening to; they rarely can help those in struggles. We are to comfort others with the same comfort we have received (2 Corinthians 1:3-5).
Destinies are resting on your shoulders (Jeremiah 1:4-5). It might have been okay to quit if quitting would only affect you. Unfortunately, quitting would not only affect you but also affect generations you may never have known. Can you imagine if Jesus had quit at Gethsemane (Matthew 26:39)? Can you imagine what would have happened to you and me and humanity at large?
The battle for your destiny is the battle of nations and generations (Genesis 25:21-23, Isaiah 66:7-9). This is why you must fight it well. Nations are tied to your loins. Generations depend on you (Isaiah 60:15). Quitting is not an option. When you are tempted to quit, do what winners do. Rise again and push through leveraging on God’s Grace (Proverbs 24:16, Micah 7:8). Jesus did it. David did it (1 Samuel 30:6). Paul did it. They all made it. You will also make it. Amen!
