PRIORITIZE YOUR RECEIVING

One practice that shaped my Christian journey was listening to messages. Back then, I’d carry a cassette player (we called it a Walkman). I’d listen to messages repeatedly and often slept with them playing in the background. I’ve kept that up. I realize I can’t give more than I receive.

Friend, you need to prioritize your receiving. Constantly giving out more than you’re receiving is a recipe for failure. One man of God calls it “blessing others while you’re bleeding.” God wants you to bless others from overflow, not dryness (Psalms 23:5).

Ministry isn’t a one-hour performance; it’s an outflow of life. A minister must prioritize their life above their message or ministry (Acts 1:1). When you focus on others more than yourself, you lose the divine arrangement for wholesome ministry (1 Timothy 4:16). Paul told Timothy to “take heed to himself” first.

You can’t give what you haven’t received (1 Corinthians 11:23). Trying to give what you haven’t received makes you fake and frivolous. I’ve noticed that when I take care of my walk with the Lord, ministry takes care of itself (Exodus 24:12, Luke 5:16-17). People struggle in ministry when they miss this.

The days we are in require intentional word intake (Acts 6:4). Life’s demands and devil’s attacks will drain you. If you’re not intentional, you’ll end up a living corpse (Revelation 3:1-3). Don’t get caught up in life’s hustle and forget yourself (Mark 6:31).

Maximize every chance to feed. Your prayer/study time is non-negotiable (Mark 1:35, Luke 10:38-42). Church isn’t just religious duty; it’s your chance to feed. Feed well, and you’re equipped for life and to bless others (Psalms 84:7). Prioritize your receiving.
