One of the statements that shaped my pursuit of purpose and refocused my energy early in life is this; “Activity is not the same as productivity. It is results that count.” I have carried on purposefully with that statement till date.
Friend, activity is not the same as productivity. It is results that count. Sometimes, doing one thing successfully is better than dabbling into many things and becoming a failure or an average. Life is not about being busy; it is about being effective and productive (Ecclesiastes 10:10, 15). Life does not reward you for what you do; it rewards you for the results you generate.
You must learn how to generate results along the path of your God-given destiny. You need to realize that fulfilling God’s plan for your life is not by engaging in too many activities. In fact, the more effective you are, the more reduced your activities would be. Martha was cumbered about so many things, but Jesus told her that only one thing is needful (Luke 10:38-42).
For many of us today, only one thing is needful. Maturity or wisdom is in knowing the one thing that would give you the maximum result. There is that one thing you would do that would set your life in the right direction. When you find that one thing, you need to give your all to it as you pursue God’s purpose for your life (Philippians 3:13-14, 1 Timothy 4:13-15).
The ability to say No is one of the proofs of strength and maturity (Isaiah 7:15, John 6:15). You cannot be a “Yes man” and expect to fulfil destiny. You cannot afford to do everything that people ask you to do. You cannot afford to follow the multitude to a journey that would lead nowhere (Exodus 23:2). You must learn to say No (Daniel 1:8).
What are those things you must say no to this season? Who are those people you must block your ears to this season (Psalms 1:1-3)? What are those activities that are not adding value to you that you need to stop? What are those relationships that are derailing you in destiny (Hosea 7:8-9)? Until you say no to them, success or fulfilment is not in view.
