I dropped by the mechanic the other day to fix the car. I noticed an apprentice working with his boss at the workshop. As the boss was sending the young apprentice to bring tools and the likes, his countenance fell; he was grumbling. I called him aside to encourage and assure him that it was for his best. He is not being used but being made.

Friend, nobody is using you. I know you may want to refute this, but I have learnt from experience and truth of scriptures that a man of destiny cannot be used; he is only being made. The reason a lot of people abort their process with God is this false idea of being used (1 Corinthians 15:58, Galatians 6:7-9). Nobody can use you. Nobody can cheat you.

When you are tempted to think that you are being used, remember that you are only being made (Matthew 4:19, Acts 4:13). Like the young apprentice, the road to becoming an expert in your field is to submit yourself to someone somewhere who would make demands of you (Philippians 2:19-22). While you do that, have the right attitude, and give the right response.

David never complained while taking care of his father’s sheep (1 Samuel 16:11-13)? Even when he faced dangers, he did not complain or quit (1 Samuel 17:33-37). David must have thought within himself that he was being made by God. All the graces that David operated with in life were developed while in the wilderness taking care of Jesse’s flock.

The quietness of the wilderness helped David to cultivate intimacy with God (Psalms 23:1-6, 42:1). The encounters with the lion and the bear helped him to develop battle skills that would be needed in facing Goliath (1 Samuel 17:36). The integrity and skill needed to lead the nation of Israel were developed while leading animals (Psalms 78:70-72). Most of the sweet Psalms he wrote came via the same experience.

In life, it’s either you are useful, useless, or abused (Colossians 3:22-25). Let God engage you before the devil entangles you. Be available at your place of work. Serve in the local Church. Run errands for your parents. Volunteer in your community or group. All of these would help you to develop into the man or woman that can fulfil destiny. Nobody is using you!
