Recently, I attended a conference with my older daughter. After the general session, there was a session for mothers. I could not go in, but I encouraged my daughter to go in and enjoy the session. Her response got me thinking. She said; “But I am not a mother.” I responded; “You will still be a mother in the future, so you have got to start learning motherhood now.”
Friend, you need to learn motherhood now. The road to becoming a winning mother is not cheap. We are all products of motherhood. Sadly, a lot of people are accidental mothers. I know a lot has been said about fatherhood, but I believe that mothers play a strategic role in the destiny of people (Isaiah 51:1-2).
Like King Lemuel, we need mothers who would help mentor kings and queens (Proverbs 31:1-10). The truth is, there are things that only mothers can say. When you see a man who lacks a mother’s voice in his life, you’re seeing a man who would not be whole. Some of the best counsellors are mothers. They know you in destiny (Judges 13:3-5).
Mothers are intuitive and discerning. Mothers are custodians of the future (Genesis 25:21-23, Luke 1:28-33). Most times, the interaction that mothers have with newborn and children at their early stage can set the trajectory of their lives for good or bad. Nursing mothers should prophesy while breastfeeding their babies. You can literally release grace upon that baby and prophesy him or her into greatness.
Mothers have native wisdom. I have often said that wisdom is a woman (Proverbs 8:1-15). There is wisdom that a correct mother has that she may not have read in a book. It is part of the strategy of God in securing the desitny of the children and family. It was this wisdom that operated in Rebacca and the mother of King Lemuel. Dear mother, learn to build with God’s wisdom in you (Proverbs 14:1).
Don’t be a careless mother. It is not enough to give birth. You need to take responsibility for your children. Why would you sleep off and allow Satan to steal your child (1 Kings 3:16-21)? Why would you be the one killing the greatness of your children? Like the parents of Moses, recognise the unquie destiny of your children and preserve them for God and destiny (Hebrews 11:23). Be a winning mother today. Amen!
