There is this common story of a man who wore his wedding ring on the wrong finger. Everyone kept pointing his attention to the ring so he could correct it. Eventually, he bursted out; “I know what I’m doing. I wore this ring on the wrong finger because I married the wrong wife.” How true is this statement?
Friend, making your marriage work is a commitment you have got to make if you hope to fulfil your God-given destiny (Malachi 2:13-16). If you are ordained by God to marry, you need to realize that marriage will play a crucial role in the fulfilment of your destiny (Genesis 2:18). You need to make your marriage work for the sake of your destiny.
Making your marriage work begins with being the right person (Proverbs 18:24). A lot of times, we focus on marrying the right person while neglecting the need to be the right person. You can only attract who you are, not who you desire. Singles, stop getting obsessed with Mr or Mrs right, start working on yourself.
Wedding day is not magic day. Who you are before marriage is who you are likely to be after marriage (1 Samuel 25:25). Actually, marriage is an amplifier; it would amplifier who you already are. If you are responsible or otherwise, marriage will amplifier that. It is a mistake to think that when a guy marries he automatically becomes a responsible man.
Marrying the right person involves knowing who you are in destiny and allowing God to help you choose the person who can compliment you in the journey of destiny (Amos 3:3). It is not about marrying a pastor or “man of God”. It is not about marrying a nurse or lady with a sonorous voice. It is about marrying someone who can catch you in the spirit.
You can marry the right person and do marriage wrong (Ecclesiastes 4:9-11). Even if you marry an angel, without the right practices in your marriage, the angel might end up becoming a devil in your house. Perhaps, this is why some men accuse their wives of being a witch after years of marriage. If who you once called your angel suddenly becomes a witch in your house, then you must be a magician.
