After my secondary school education, I had to stay at home for a few years before gaining admission into the university. That waiting period was not easy but I thank God for what He made out of me via that process. I entered campus mature and prepared to handle campus life and ministry. I allowed God to prepare me.
Friend, God always wants to prepare you for what He has prepared for you. While 1 Corinthians 2:9 is very true and valid, we must remember that what God is doing now is not preparing things for us, He is preparing us for things.
God is working in us and on us, through the Holy Spirit, so that we can safely, smoothly and successfully walk into what He has ordained and prepared for us (Ephesians 2:10, Philippians 2:12-13). When we pray that God should do stuff for us, change our situations and all that, we must realize that, in most cases, we are the one that God is changing.
Prayer may not change all things for us but it will change us for all things (2 Corinthians 3:18). For Hannah, God needed that number of years of crying, going to Shiloh and all that, to get her into position, to a place where she can handle the blessing (1 Samuel 2:1-3). God wanted to deal with envy and competitive spirit in her.
God wanted Hannah to switch from being self-centered to being God-centred. God wanted her to develop spiritual and emotional capacity to be able to handle Samuel’s birth. God wanted to develop the attitude of generosity in her so she could freely release Samuel to the Lord (1 Samuel 1:10-11). Let God prepare you for what He has prepared for you. You will testify!
