Recently, I stumbled on an online image of the world’s fastest runner at a time. In that image, he looked flabby and unfit. Although he’s still quite young but I consider him unfit for any competitive race anymore. He never learned to keep fit.

Friend, you need to keep fit for destiny. Fitness is a necessary requirement for relevance (1 Corinthians 9:24-27). This is why in sport, we often talk about current champions, not former champions. When I used to reign, when I used to be anointed, etc., is not a testimony (Job 29:1-7). What is your current form?

God won’t keep you fit. You would need to keep fit (2 Peter 1:10). Coaches only guide and instil discipline in players, they cannot walk out for them. They cannot train for them. The players have to do it. In the same vein, mentors and coaches won’t keep you fit. They can only guide and encourage you. You need to do it yourself (2 Timothy 1:6).

One of the strategies of the devil is to render you unfit for destiny. He causes you to indulge in habits and practices that destroy your potency in destiny (SoS 2:15). He would make you see nothing wrong in staying for days without prayer and fellowship with God. He would keep you engaged with frivolity and time wastage on social media. He would attempt to distract you so he could destroy you (1 Kings 20:40).

You need both righteousness and fitness to fulfil desitny. Don’t be in a state where it becomes difficult for God to use you even if He initially planned to do so (Hosea 7:8-9). God will always forgive you, but He would not always use you. This is why any gospel that tells you it does not matter what you do or how you live is sponsored by hell.

Choosing you is God’s responsibility. Keeping fit is your responsibility (Matthew 22:1-14). Many people have frustrated their divine choice due to their lack of fitness. If you ever catch a glimpse of your destiny in God, you would need to do your best to keep fit (1 Corinthians 15:8-10). Keep fit spiritually, mentally, physically, emotionally, and in other areas. You will succeed.
