One man of God shared the story of his early days in marriage. He was privileged to be born into a wealthy family. But he noticed that in his marriage, his Dad would always show up to sort their bills, which he joyfully received. One day in prayers, God told him; “My son, if you keep making your Dad your source, you would limit the possibilities in you.” That was the beginning of his financial turnaround.

Friend, there is a
capacity of greatness embedded in you (Matthew 11:11). But you must not let irresponsibility limit your possibility. It is pleasurable and enjoyable to always want to live off people. But true greatness is determined by taking responsibility (Proverbs 6:6-11). The person helping you to do stuff is growing at your own expense.

It is responsibility that grows and increases us (Matthew 25:28-30). Responsibility can be stretchy, but it would make you better. When you stand your ground and trust God for your future, you would have laid a solid foundation for a life of greatness. Who are you outsourcing your responsibility to (SoS 1:6)? Who have you made your source and sustenance outside of God?

Like Esau told Jacob, you may need to confidently declare that you have enough (Genesis 3:9). Actually, people who say that they have enough may not necessarily have enough. But they see value in the little they have and have taken responsibility to work with it (Matthew 25:16). This is why they would eventually have enough.

You need to get out of your comfort zone. You need to step out and step into your prophetic destiny (2 Kings 7:3-5). If Abraham had remained in his father’s house, he may never have become the father of many nations that he became. Who do you need to get away from so you can stand in life? Where do you need to come out of so you can realise the greatness that is on your life (Genesis 12:1-4)?

While receiving help from people is not wrong, you must never let that help be the bane of your growth and progress in life (Isaiah 30:7). There must come a time when you decide to walk your way through life and make something out of it (Hebrews 11:8). Helpers are like widwives. They are not meant to carry your pregnancy for you. They cannot also push for you in the labour room. You have got to push by yourself!
