We were at the dining table recently as a family. As we ate, I paused to attend to some ministry work on my phone. My son noticed and said, “Daddy, eat your food.” Immediately, I dropped the phone and continued my meal. I was inspired to prioritize feeding above leading.
Friend, one of the most powerful pieces of advice you can ever receive is to eat (Proverbs 24:13-14). It may seem trivial. But when you consider the weight of your destiny, you will realize that nothing is weightier than that (Luke 2:46-52).
We are in a generation of leaders, ministers, preachers, speakers, etc. Like Jesus said to His disciples, you must come apart by yourself to the place of feeding (Mark 6:31). You must prioritize your feeding above your leading and ministry (Luke 10:38-42).
Feeding is such a serious matter that the only thing God did to deliver Elijah from being suicidal was to feed him (1 Kings 19:1-8). In other words, if you don’t eat, you will soon become a victim of depression. You will start running away from what you are anointed for (1 Samuel 17:48-50).
Feeding is not something you do for cosmetic reasons (Acts 20:7-10). Don’t just attend conferences for optics. It is better to truly feed than to just hang around food and take pictures. It does not automatically get you filled. You must truly feed (Luke 5:17).
Feeding requires humility (Philippians 3:10-14). I could have ignored my son’s advice to eat. I could have made him think that I knew what I was doing. But all I needed was to take a break from my phone and eat. What do you need to take a break from to eat (Luke 1:80)? Your gifts, anointing, and visibility are not substitutes for feeding.
