Sometimes, when I take my children out, I leave them guessing about where we’re headed. “Daddy, where are we going?” they’d ask. I’d just smile and tell them to keep following. Then, as we got closer, they’d light up: “Oh! I know where we are going. We’re almost there.” This is how our journey with God is. It’s a journey of faith.

Friend, faith is a journey, and the journey of faith would require you to follow God patiently (Hebrews 6:12, 15). A lot of people struggle to believe God’s plan for their lives because they want to understand it first. But faith does not work this way. You believe first, and understanding follows (Hebrews 11:3).

God rarely gives you a vision you can fully figure out upfront. He gives you one you can trust (Habakkuk 2:1-4). Mary didn’t grasp everything God was doing until Jesus was born. What she had was faith (Luke 1:45). If you wait until everything makes sense before you move, you risk missing what God wants to do through you.

You don’t need to fully understand how a gadget works before you use it. You just trust the maker’s instructions (Joshua 1:8). If you insist on understanding everything before you act, you will stay stuck. If the vision makes perfect sense from the start, it probably isn’t from God (Hebrews 11:8).

Grasping God’s vision is a process. It grows as your faith grows (Proverbs 4:18). You believe, then you see a little more. You believe again, and you become a little more like who He called you to be. It is those who believe what God has said that become what God has planned (John 1:12).

Do you believe what God has shown you, or are you waiting until you’ve mapped out every detail before you step out (Matthew 14:28-30)? God isn’t asking if you’re capable. He’s asking if you trust Him. He’s not asking you to believe a vague idea or a general concept. He’s asking if you believe what He has spoken to you personally (John 11:23-26).
