A preacher once asked his congregation; “What’s the most important word in the Bible?” Several answers were given by the congregation. Nobody got it until the preacher mentioned that the most important word is “Continue.” According to him; “If you are not going to continue, there is no guarantee that you would amount to anything serious.”

Friend, excitement is not enough. You would need to continue if you hope to finish well and strong in life and destiny. Most times, we begin stuff by excitement. But the excitement is not enough to carry us through the different seasons of life. Actually, what you start by excitement, you would have to continue with commitment and finish with determination (2 Timothy 4:6-8).

Jesus’ true disciples are not just those who confessed Him as Lord and Saviour but those who continue in His word (John 8:31-32). There are some levels of truth and understanding that you would never know unless you go deeper in commitment (John 8:31-32). A man is not totally free until truth declares his freedom.

What have you started this year that you have got to continue? What are those abandoned projects and programs that you need to revisit (Zechariah 4:9)? Your decision to continue is, perhaps, one of the greatest decisions you can ever make. A lot of people desire greatness, but very few people can keep their commitment high enough to achieve the greatness they desire.

You need to fight discouragement if you would continue and succeed (Isaiah 42:4). Learn to encourage yourself (1 Samuel 30:6). There would be times that nothing around would encourage you. There would be times you would feel like stopping. Like David, you would need to encourage yourself in the Lord to keep going (1 Samuel 30:6).

Tap into divine help to continue no matter what (Acts 26:22, Hebrews 4:15-16). Not everybody that starts continues. Not everybody who started on campus or in business continued. Not everybody who began the Christian race is still standing today. Some have given up or fallen by the wayside. Make up your mind to continue and fulfil your destiny. You will succeed!
