My daughters often relate with their doll as if it were human being. They even attempt to feed it, including breastfeeding. Recently, I saw something protruding on my daughter’s chest like breast. She had padded the chest to look like breast. I reasoned it was all in an attempt to breastfeed the doll. I immediately corrected her but also learnt a vital lesson; don’t birth what you cannot feed.

Friend, don’t birth what you cannot feed. Why are you in a hurry to birth things (Isaiah 28:16)? If you see a ten-year old desiring to have her own baby, you would not be proud of such. Yet, many people are desiring what is beyond their capacity or present phase of life. What you birth that you cannot feed may eventually kill you (Proverbs 24:10).

Don’t start what you cannot finish (Luke 14:28-30). Don’t step into what you don’t have the capacity to sustain. Starting is often exciting, but continuing is hard work (Philippians 3:10-14). This is why people fizzle out with time. Just like a newborn, every enterprise must be continually fed to remain alive, healthy, and strong (Luke 1:80). Wait until you grow what you need to feed your vision and enterprise.

As a leader, always remember that God does not gather followers for you, He rather makes you followable (Hebrews 13:7, 17). As far as God is concerned, followability is more important than gathering crowds. Yet, people desire the crowd but disdain the process that can attract, retain, and sustain the crowd (Luke 5:15-17). There is a capacity required for the opportunity you desire.

Just like a nursing mother, a visionary is a feeder, not just a leader. He leads by feeding, and he feeds by leading (John 6:68-69). Develop your capacity to feed. If you cannot feed people or stuff, you cannot lead them (Jeremiah 3:15). Learn to take in life and inject the same into what you are doing (Proverbs 4:20-23, 10:21, 18:21).

Calling is like pregnancy. Nobody can carry it for you (Acts 26:19, 22). It is when it stops raining that you realise that an umbrella is not a fashionable item. Everybody has their issues to grapple with. Your financiers can only give you money, but they cannot help you work your vision to materiality. While waiting to birth your vision, be wise to gather enough breastmilk.
