One of my friends showed up at our church office sometime ago. It was quite early in the morning during the week. Surprised to see me in the office at that time, he said; “I’m impressed to see you already in the office. Not many full-time pastors have such discipline.” My response to him was simple; “This is my place of assignment, I cannot afford to be here and there.”

Friend, don’t be here and there (1 Kings 20:40). Part of the introduction of the devil in scriptures was that he was going to and fro the earth (Job 1:7). You must not join him to move here and there. A life without direction will lack divine commitment and will be open to satanic intrusion (Psalms 17:4, 16:11). Don’t be here and there.

When Adam left where God placed him, he became a wanderer. God had to ask him, “Where are you (Genesis 3:9)?” There are many people today that God is still asking, “Where are you?” Where are you in prayers? Where are you in the place of service? Where are you in the purpose and ministry committed to your hands by God? Where are you in your home and family?

Divine visitations and allocations are location-specific. If Zachariah was absent from his priestly duty, the visitation that changed his life, and the course of history might have been missed (Luke 1:9-14). A lot of people have missed God because they left where He placed them. Don’t leave your place, or else, you become a wanderer in life (Proverbs 27:8).

Don’t focus on other people’s vineyards and leave yours unattended to (SoS 1:6). What makes other people’s lives and business or ministry attractive to you is because they committed to it. Mind your own business, purpose, and assignment (1 Thessalonians 4:11). Stop looking at what others are doing while leaving yours undone. Don’t appoint yourself as a supervisor over someone else’s life and assignment.

You can be focused in the midst of distractions. You can have peace in the midst of chaos. The key is to let God define your life and work for you and stick to it (Acts 26:19). Not every attraction is a blessing. Some are distractions that would lead to destruction (Proverbs 14:12). Don’t follow trends. Follow God. Follow truth. Follow purpose and destiny. Don’t be here and there!
