Sometime ago, I sat with one of our leaders to discuss some church matters. He needed my input on some plans and programs for the church. Almost without thinking, I began to reel off some directions to him. They looked so preplanned that he was forced to ask me; “Sir, have you thought about this before?” I did not know whether to answer Yes or No. But I knew that I had prayed ahead. Truly, prayer produces accuracy.
Friend, prayer produces accuracy. You are as accurate as your prayer life (Mark 3:13-19). I was taught early in my walk with God that prayer produces accuracy, accuracy produces speed, speed produces power, and power produces impact. Most times, we focus on the impact while neglecting the prayer (Habakkuk 2:1-4, Matthew 8:1).
Life is not measured by activity but by accuracy. Don’t just be an active man. Be an accurate man (Genesis 26:1-14). God wants you to be accurate. He wants your heart and His to align that even your seeming causal thoughts are God’s mind for you. This is what it means to have the mind of Christ (John 5:30, 10:30, 1 Corinthians 2:16). This is what it means to delight yourself in the Lord so your desires can be His desires (Psalms 37:4).
Don’t joke with accuracy in the journey of destiny. One little shift from God’s plan can cause you years of wandering in the wilderness of destiny (Proverbs 27:8). You need to be accurate. You need to make decisions that are in sync with God’s plan for you. You need to do what God will have you do, not what you see everyone doing (Acts 9:6, Galatians 1:15-16).
The primary goal of prayer is not to have your needs met. It is to align you with God’s will on earth. This was the emphasis of the model prayer as taught by Jesus (Matthew 6:10). When our will aligns with God’s will, the kingdom is born in and around us. The kingdom is bigger than your needs. Once the kingdom is born, your needs are already taken care of (Matthew 6:33).
Stop chasing shadows. Invest in prayers this season. You can pray yourself into accuracy that can secure the next 20 years of your life. Like Rebecca, you can discover the destinies of your children while they are still in the womb (Genesis 25:21-24). You can set the trajectory of your business even before it starts. You can navigate the next phase of your ministry in prayers. Prayer produces accuracy. Never forget this.
