A man of God unknowingly gave inaccurate information to a group of people. When he left them, his conscience was troubled. He had to take the pain of travelling some distance to correct the information. The people wondered why he had to do so. But he was trying to protect his conscience.

Friend, your conscience is very important to your Christian life and fulfilment of destiny (2 Timothy 1:3). Your conscience is your consciousness of good and evil. When your conscience is alive unto God, you are able to decipher good from evil (Hebrews 5:14). But a person whose conscience is dead is not able to do so.

One of the miracles of redemption is the quickening of your conscience (Hebrews 9:14). Your conscience has been made alive unto God. However, when believer continues to live in neglect of the voice of his conscience, it becomes insensitive to right and wrong (1 Timothy 4:2). At this point, he begins to do wrong without restraints.

God gave you a conscience as a regulator. It helps to regulate your actions before God and people (2 Corinthians 5:11). When David cut a piece of Saul’s garment, his heart smote him. His conscience quickly restricted him from going further down error. David had a conscience alive unto God (1 Samuel 24:5). No wonder he’s a man after God’s heart.

Beware of people and atmospheres that deaden your conscience (Psalms 1:1-3). Maintain a pure conscience. Maintain a living conscience. It would not only preserve your destiny, it would also preserve your very life. Many people have made shipwreck of their lives and destinies due to a bad conscience (1 Timothy 1:19).

Maintain a conscience that is void of offence towards God and man (Acts 24:16). Some things may appear harmless and sinless, but if your conscience restricts you, obey your conscience. Constantly present your heart and mind to the Holy Spirit to work in and through (Psalms 139:23-24). Let your conscience be alive unto God. Amen.
