A young man was asked by his fiancĂ©e; “How do you hope to take care of me?” The statement unsettled the young man. According to him; “This lady does not believe in me. I don’t think she has the faith to journey with me into our destiny of greatness.” I counselled him; “That is the kind of lady you need in your life. She would balance you up.”
Friend, you must practise a balanced faith. Really, faith is both spiritual and practical. It is not mystical. It has the element of divinity and humanity. It does not push all the responsibilities to God. Faith tells you what to do and empowers you to do it. A man of faith does not sing “Standing on the promises” while sitting on the premises.
Every man of faith needs people around him who think practically and rationally. As a young man, when your fiancee asks you; “How do you hope to take care of me?” Don’t call her an unbeliever or a doubter. Notice that, in scriptures, when people asked God, “How?” He did not shut them down. Rather, He provided answers (Luke 1:34-35).
Add practicality to your faith (2 Peter 1:5). The practicality of faith will teach you the balance of faith and wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:24). It would teach you to embrace planning. By faith Noah built the ark, Abraham stepped out (Hebrews 11:7-8). They did not just resort to prayers. They took steps.
Faith is not an enemy of planning (Genesis 41:34-36, John 6:12). Write that business proposal. Prepare for that interview. Study for that exam. Plan for that marriage. Apply for that scholarship. Take steps for that building project. If you have faith that God will take care of you, start managing your present funds well.
God will do the impossible while you do the possible. You may not be able to raise Lazarus, but you can roll away the stone. You can remove the grave clothes (John 11:39,44). Stop worrying about the impossible you cannot do and start doing the possible that you can do. Miracles happen faster and better for the responsible.
