As an elephant and a rat traversed a narrow bridge spanning a deep river, the bridge began to sway precariously. Undeterred, they continued on, eventually reaching the other side safely. Upon arrival, the rat exclaimed, “We shook the bridge!” This story taught me about partnering with the Holy Spirit.
Friend, you need to partner with the Holy Spirit (John 14:16, 26). Truly, your success in life is determined by who’s with you and what’s working for you. Actually, everyone has an unknown factor contributing to their success or failure in life. As a believer, it’s your responsibility to allow God to work with and for you (Philippians 2:12-13).
One of the assignments of the Holy Spirit in our lives is to help us with our infirmities (Romans 8:26). The Holy Spirit has been given to us to help us overcome human weaknesses and limitations. Therefore, if you don’t learn to partner with the Holy Spirit, you’ve given your weaknesses the opportunity to limit your destiny (2 Corinthians 12:9).
A life in the Holy Spirit is an unlimited life (Acts 26:22). It’s only what can stop the Holy Spirit that can stop you. Recognizing and allowing the Holy Spirit’s contribution in your life is a mark of wisdom. Trying to do life alone doesn’t mean you’re smart; it means you’re unwise. Don’t struggle alone this year (John 15:5).
Like the rat in our opening story, the Holy Spirit’s contributions in our lives will enable us to achieve the unimaginable (Ephesians 3:20). We’ll “shake the bridge of life,” doing things that amaze people. Our lives will become living proof of divine help, and we’ll reach greatness (Isaiah 48:17, 21).
Learning to work with the Holy Spirit is one of the most critical aspects of our Christian journey (Romans 8:14). You’ll need to be conscious of His presence, yield to His promptings, submit to His wisdom, and intentionally involve Him in all areas of your life. Ask Him questions, and He’ll make you wise (Isaiah 11:1-3).
