“If your life is wrong, your work is wrong.” This was a statement I heard at a meeting years ago. This statement further reinforced my age-long perspective about ministry. It is both a walk and a work. You need to pay attention to your walk and your work.you
Friend, your walk and your work are critical to the fulfilment of your destiny (Colossians 1:10). However, it is your walk that comes before your work. If your walk with God is wrong, your work will be wrong. This is why anyone who would carry out an effective ministry must prioritise intimacy with God (Philippians 3:10-14).
It is intimacy before ministry (Mark 3:14). This was the order Jesus gave and used when He was on earth. His primary purpose for calling His disciples was intimacy, not ministry. The ministry simply flowed out of intimacy. This is the same standard that God wants everyone to adopt. You need to prioritise intimacy above ministry (Luke 10:38-42).
Attempting to work for God without walking with God is to position yourself for Satanic infiltration (Acts 16:16-18). It is intimacy that preserves the purity of our lives and work. You must fight for intimacy with God because it is your intimacy that the devil will fight (Daniel 11:31-32). He will sponsor some activities and busyness that would take a way your intimacy.
If your work is not working, check your walk. If your life is not working, check your intimacy with God (2 Chronicles 26:5). It is an act of mercy when God withholds productivity and prosperity from you when you are not living right with Him. If you continue to succeed outside of God, you will soon find yourself inside the devil’s plan and territory (Genesis 13:11-15).
Just as your work is personal, your walk is also personal (Acts 26:19). Don’t let anyone give you a wrong walk. The call of God is not a general call. It is specific. The demand of God upon our lives is not general. Like Peter, many people judge God’s instructions for them by what He’s saying or not saying to others (John 21:19-22). Your walk is what will give beauty and distinction to your work.
