One of the things my daughters love doing is to hide somewhere and try to scare me. But they notice I don’t
usually get scared. So, one day, my younger daughter asked me; “Daddy, why are you not always scared?” My response to her was “Because I’m a child of God, and because I know better.” I have no reason to fear.
Friend, you have no reason to fear. Listen, there is no justification for fear, either physical or spiritual. The reason is simple; you are a child of God. God has not given you the Spirit of fear (2 Timothy 1:7). Fear is not part of the salvation package. It is definitely an importation from hell or the world around us. You need to know how to get rid of fear (1 John 4:18).
Being a child of God is a big deal. It is a game changer. It changes your perspective and approach to life (Romans 8:15). It also affects your confidence and audacity in facing life. But what does it mean to be a child of God? It means the creator of the whole universe, including the devil, is your Father (Hebrews 12:9). It also means the one who is the Lord of all is also your Lord.
Knowledge is a critical weapon for overcoming fear (John 8:32). Actually, fear is rooted in knowledge; but a wrong knowledge. If what you know is wrong, you would live wrong. If someone tells you that the devil can harm you, that knowledge already positions you for fear (Hebrews 2:14-15). This is why you need to be careful what you hear and how you hear.
Just as faith comes by hearing, fear also comes by hearing (Romans 10:17). What have you been hearing, and who have you been hearing that have planted the seed of fear in you? In life, there is no unconsious hearing. Every form of hearing has an impact on your life, whether you are conscious of it or not. Stop listening to the devil and his agents (Genesis 3:11). Stop listening to the world. Listen to the word.
If what you are hearing is not feeding your faith, it is actually feeding your fear (Galatians 5:1). You need to feed your faith and starve your fear. Also, learn how to handle the devil. Go for what the word of God says about the devil. He is not a lion, but he’s like a roaring lion (1 Peter 5:8). Learn to unmask the devil. He cannot harm you. You have no reason to fear.
