I told a young man the other day; “Rather than pursuing platforms and looking for who to mentor. Why not invest your time and energy in becoming successful? When you do, platforms will be looking for you. People would be begging you to mentor them.” He got the message. Indeed, wisdom can be seen.

Friend, wisdom can be seen (1 Kings 10:4-5). Contrary to what some people think, wisdom is not theoretical. It is practical. It is not in what you say. It is in how you live. Wise people say less and do more. They leave arguments to others while their result does the speaking for them (Luke 7:35). Wise people prioritise actions above speech.

If you would live a life of impact, you need to be a man of action and not just a man of words (James 2:18). Sometimes, when people talk too much, it is proof that they are doing too little. Like Jesus, what you say should flow from what you do and how you live (Acts 1:1). Really, you should not say what you don’t do.

As a single lady, you can continue to counsel everyone about how to do marriage. Nobody will take you seriously until you get married (Proverbs 25:14). The way you do your marriage will show your wisdom. What you cannot show, you don’t truly know. Someone who has not pastored a church before does not have the right to teach another pastor how to grow a church (Matthew 23:1-4).

You can be given a leadership position, but true leadership or influence is earned (1 Timothy 4:12). It was after people saw the wisdom of Solomon in settling disputes between two women that they willingly submitted to him (1 Kings 3:16-28). Wisdom can be seen. Trying to tell people that you are wise is nothing but a waste of time. If you are truly wise, show it. Actions speak louder than words.

If you want to be wise, you need to do what wise people do (Proverbs 13:20). Hanging around the wise and even talking like them does not automatically make you wise unless your actions are consistent with theirs. Wise people pray. Wise people delay gratification. Wise people are discrete with their time, words, and resources (James 3,:13). Wise people invest today to reap tomorrow.
