I heard the story of a man of God who had a visit from Jesus, but a demon’s presence disrupted their conversation. The man expected Jesus to rebuke the demon, but Jesus didn’t. Afterwards, the man asked why. Jesus replied, “You have the power to rebuke it. Use your authority.”

Friend, God wants you to use your authority. The authority that is not used is no authority (Luke 10:19). The power of God is not in the mouth of God. It is in the word of God. If you put the word of God in your mouth, the power of God will work in your life (Revelation 12:11). While you are waiting for God, He is also waiting for you. God has done all He needed to do when Christ died and rose again. The ball is now in your court as a believer.

Authority is the right to use power. As believers, we have the right to use God’s power (Matthew 10:1, John 1:12). He gave us the power and commissioned us to use the same. If you don’t use your authority, you will end up as a victim on the earth. This is where understanding comes in (Psalms 82:5-7). Most believers are ignorant of who they are and what they have in Christ.

The power of the devil is in the ignorance of the believer (2 Corinthians 2:11). It is not enough to be saved. You need to be taught so that you can be safe. Understanding is not a gift. It is acquired via accurate, constant, and consistent learning (John 8:31-32). How accurate is your knowledge? Wrong teaching can be more dangerous than no teaching.

We have authority in the name of Jesus, the blood of Jesus, and the word of God. This is how to operate in dominion on the earth (Philippians 2:9-11). The name of Jesus is not only meant for rounding up our prayers. We need to release the grace that the name carries at all times. Demons tremble at the name of Jesus. Contrary situations bow to the name. The forces on earth and in hell submit to the name of Jesus (Luke 10:17).

“It is written is a potent weapon against the enemy (Luke 4:4). But what if you don’t know what is written? How would you be able to challenge what is happening? Invest time knowing and declaring what has been written concerning you. You are far above principalities and powers. You are the head and not the tail. You shall not die but live and declare God’s works (Psalms 118:17). You are blessed and highly favoured. Amen!
