We usually wake up early in the morning for family devotion. One day, as we gathered for the devotion, my little boy, of just over a year, went straight to the shelf, picked a copy of our devotional book, and started opening it. It caught the attention of myself and my wife that we just smiled. Truly, there is the reality of transgenerational faith.
Friend, there is the reality of transgenerational faith. Our faith is designed to outlive us. It is meant to be passed to others, including the next generation (2 Timothy 1:5). This is why you need to pay attention to how you develop and live out the faith life. It is not just about you. It is about those coming after you.
Timothy’s family was an example of a transgenerational faith. It passed from his grandmother to his mother and to him. No wonder it was easier for Timothy to know God and develop into what God has ordained for him (2 Timothy 3:15). Are you making Christianity easy or difficult for your children and those coming after you?
Remember that Levi was said to have paid tithes in the loins of Abraham (Hebrews 7:9-10). What you do today will greatly impact the destiny of your unborn children. Stop endangering the lives of your children by living in sin or playing truant in spiritual matters. When you stay conscious of the nations and generations in your loins, you would be careful how you live (Genesis 25:23).
God is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Genesis 32:9, Exodus 3:6). Can this be said about you and your lineage? Is your God the God of your children? Are you just forcing God on them, or are you modelling Him to them while creating the right atmosphere for their faith in God? The greatest contribution you can ever make in the lives of your children is to serve God while you are alive (Joshua 24:15). It will create an indelible impression on them.
What you say is not as powerful as what you do (Genesis 31:42, 53). When they see you kneel to pray, study your Bible, treat people well, commit to a local church, etc., it impacts them greatly. Singles, one of the reasons you need to marry a sound and committed Christian is because of your children (Psalms 112:1-3). You can already tell their future by who you marry. Be guided.
