Recently, my younger daughter needed cash to buy something. I told her to get it from meet her mum so I’d transfer the money. She declined, saying; “Mummy will not give me. She won’t agree.” I told her; “Well, if mummy will not agree, I also will not agree.” When she left, I realised that a lot of believers also operate like this. They want a rubber stamp God.
Friend, what kind of God do you serve? How do you relate with God (Romans 1:21)? We may all have a relationship with God but not relate with Him the same way. Our attitude and posture towards God would often determine His response to us. You need to check how you relate with God. Do you relate with Him as a rubber stamp God (Romans 1:25)?
If you always want God to grant your requests without recourse to His will and counsel, you are serving a rubber stamp God without knowing (Psalm 106:15). Never promote what you want above what God wants for you. Never insist on having your way with God (Genesis 6:3). It is better to lose to win than to win to lose.
If you lose to God, you would win in life. But if you win over God, you would lose in life (Acts 9:1-6). Our public failures are reflections of our private failures. For Jacob, his life turned around when he lost to God at Peniel. Until God broke him, he never broke through in life and destiny (Genesis 32:24-31). Has God broken you? Has He broken your pride and personal agenda?
Sometimes, if people cannot get God to stamp their inordinate desires, they go meet someone who could stamp it for them on behalf of God (1 Kings 22:8-14). Most times, the people seeking counselling already have the mind of God over the matter. They only want a pastor who would stamp their disobedience and rebellion. Never use the man of God against the will of God (Num 23:11-23, Lam 3:37).
Following God demands trusting His love and wisdom (Romans 8:28-37). It is knowing that He loves you and has your best at heart. It is understanding that He knows what you don’t know and that His strategy will always trump your smartness. When you let God have His way, you are bound to win in life (Jeremiah 17:5-10). It is dangerous to get what God is not giving you.
