A pastor visited his married son in the States, and while there, he stopped by a supermarket, purchased a bicycle, and presented it to his son as a surprise gift. His son was taken aback and asked why he did that. The pastor replied, “I promised you a bicycle when you were younger, and now I’m making good on that promise.”

Friend, God will keep His promises to you (Titus 1:2). When we say that God cannot lie, it means that He does not have the capacity to lie. It also means that He won’t say what He has not done. Unlike humans, God says what He has done, not what He will do (Romans 4:17). You can take Him at His word.

The integrity of God’s word is the basis for our faith (Numbers 23:19). We know that He is willing. He is able. He is ready. He is faithful. Human beings can promise you something but lack the ability to bring it to pass even when they are not lying to you. People become weak in faith when any of these divine attributes are in doubt (Romans 4:20).

God’s willingness, ability, readiness, and faithfulness all point to the integrity of His word (Psalm 119:89). You would notice that in scriptures, people often question the willingness of Jesus when they want miracles. Jesus never told anyone that He’s not willing. He won’t tell you either (Matthew 8:1-3).

God is more than willing to forgive, heal, deliver, and bless you (3 John 1:2). His willingness was communicated at redemption. Jesus died for us while we were still sinners. The sacrifice of Jesus is God’s greatest gift to mankind so there’s nothing He won’t give you (Romans 5:8, 8:32).

Fatherhood is a kingdom responsibility (Isaiah 51:1-2).
Like the father in our opening story, God wants parents to mirror His fatherhood to their children. The way you relate with your children would shape their perception of God. If you don’t keep your word, they would assume that God does not keep His word. Don’t fail God (Genesis 18:17-19).
