A man of God once said this to God in prayer; “Lord, I can go anywhere for you, but not to that country.” God kept insisting He would send him there. The struggle continued for a while until he gave up, saying, “Lord, I’m ready to go anywhere, including that country.” God responded, “I’m not sending you to that country; I only want to break the resistance in you.”
Friend, learn to surrender to God’s will for your life. The cross isn’t just a wooden structure crafted to hang Jesus. It’s where God’s will overrides our own. If I ask, “Have you been to the cross?” I mean, have you submitted your will to God’s?
Obeying God when it’s convenient is cooperation; obeying when it’s not is submission. The battle for humanity wasn’t won on the cross, but at Gethsemane, where Jesus submitted to God’s will (Matthew 26:37-42). Similarly, our destiny is shaped by our response to God’s will.
Like Jesus, we must take up our cross daily and follow God (Matthew 16:24-25, Luke 14:27). This is what it means to be a disciple. Many claim to be Christians, but few are true disciples. Few can put God’s will above comfort and convenience.
Tragically, today’s church often neglects teaching on God’s will (Luke 6:46). We’ve rationalized our walk with God, assuming anything goes. But God’s standards don’t change (Psalms 119:89, 1 Timothy 3:15, 2 Timothy 2:19). We are to adjust, align, and adapt to God’s will for our lives.
You can’t fulfil your destiny without submitting to God’s will (Ephesians 1:11). Walk in the paths He chose for you (Ephesians 2:10). It may not make sense now, but it will end gloriously (Romans 8:28-30). When next you call Jesus, “Lord,” remember that it is a call to surrender to His will.
