As we watched a young government appointee being interviewed on TV, I turned to my wife and said, “This young man may not have even campaigned for the government at the grassroots level during the election, but his expertise and skill have made him a sought-after expert.”
Friend, God wants you to shine as light in your field of endeavour. This is your destiny as a seed of Abraham and a child of God (Isaiah 62:12). You are not supposed to be the one begging to be chosen. You should be the one being begged to lead. You carry in you what your generation needs; a solution to their problems (Judges 11:1-11).
Becoming a sought-after person begins with your sense of identity. When you know who you are and where you are in God, you would stop desiring crumbs (Psalms 16:5-6). You would start positioning yourself to eat at the table of greatness. You are supposed to be the one calling the shots wherever you find yourself. You carry the leadership grace.
God wants you to be the best at what you do. This is how to represent God in your sphere as you become sought-after (Proverbs 22:29). A mediocre cannot shine as light. Even if the grace is upon you, the grace will wait until you rise up in excellence and diligence before it can settle and manifest in your life (Psalms 78:70-72).
Your prophecies are waiting for you to come up (Revelation 4:1). They are waiting for you to fulfil the practical side of the requirements of destiny. The prophetic dream that Joseph had at a young age was at the mercy of his growth in administration and excellence (Genesis 39:4). This was why God took him through the journey he went through. It was to make him ready.
Excellence is not first about what you do. It is about who you are and the mindset you bring into what you do (Proverbs 23:7). Even if you are in prison or wilderness, kings will come seeking for you when you become a person of excellence (Isaiah 60:3). This is why you need to go the extra mile. You need to do more than you are paid to do and expected to do. You need to shine as light.
