Years ago, I had a discussion with a minister of the gospel. As we got on the subject of finance, he said to me; “I have about eight streams of income even as a full-time minister. What then is the excuse of an average Christian today?” That statement got me thinking about the need to be intentional about making more money.
Friend, you need to be intentional about making more money. Your life needs to be constantly fed if you hope to stay financially buoyant (Genesis 2:8-10). Whereas God’s storehouse of provisions is inexhaustible, your supply from the storehouse is limited to the channels that you make available to Him. You need to have multiple streams of income (2 Corinthians 9:8).
Streams of income are created (John 5:2). Income does not just come in without being intentional about it. If you want to be financially successful, your outgo must not exceed your income, or else, your upkeep will be your downfall. I know that things are now expensive, but is your income increasing?
If one of your channels of income suddenly closes, how would you be affected (1 Kings 17:7)? It is a function of the other streams you have or don’t have. No matter how huge your only source of income is, it may not be enough to take care of the myriads of needs in your life.
The sea never runs dry because it has several streams feeding it. You are like a financial ocean that requires multiple streams for survival, sustenance, and success (Isaiah 66:12). Your gifts, talents, skills, education, training, experiences, exposures, opportunities, etc. are all possible streams of income for you if you know how to monetize them.
At every season of your life, God will never leave you stranded. What do you have in your house, heart, and hand that can generate streams of income (Genesis 21:19, Exodus 4:1-5, 2 Kings 4:1-7)? Look beyond salary and explore other sources. Learn how to invest. Money works harder, better, and longer than human beings. Do the bulk of the thinking and let money do the hard work (Genesis 24:63, 26:12-14). You need to make more money.
