A seasoned minister approached me recently, saying, “I’ve observed you, and I’ve noticed you’ve kept things simple, yet you’ve accomplished so much.” His words resonated deeply, reminding me of my guiding principle: do less, achieve more. I believe this would help you, too.

Friend, less is more. One of the biggest decisions you can make this year is to reduce your activities so you can increase your productivity (1 Timothy 4:15). Many people think that the more they do, the more they become. But you can’t be everywhere. You can’t do everything (1 Kings 20:40).

Doing too many things will waste your time, drain your energy, and confuse your identity (Hosea 7:8-9). You have just enough time to do what God has allotted you in destiny. Doing anything more will waste your time and drain your energy. Successful people have learned to manage their energy by doing what’s important (Acts 26:19).

One sign of growth is that your life is becoming simpler by the day (Luke 10:40-42). If people still know you for too many things, you probably aren’t growing. Growth is measured by what we outgrow, not by what we’re stuck in. As we encounter God, purpose, and growth, we fine-tune our focus and activities (Acts 9:6).

Many people do too much due to comparison and competition (2 Corinthians 10:12). In a bid to be in vogue, many have dabbled in things that have no relevance to their life and existence. Instead of getting inspired by what others are doing, they get exhausted by copying them (Hebrews 11:29).

This year, focus on what’s important (Philippians 3:13-14). Stop the rat race. Streamline your life and activities. Be comfortable with doing what God tells you to do, even if others aren’t doing it (John 21:19-22). Those who would be more with God and do more for God must learn to separate distractions from destiny.
