Sometime ago, one of my friends dropped by at our church office around 8:30 am during the week. He was surprised to see me already seated in the office. He remarked; “I’m inspired by your diligence. Not many full-time pastors would be in office at such time.” I told him; “This is my work, and I have to stay committed to it.”

Friend, how committed are you to your work (John 9:4)? Laziness does not pay bills. Laziness is not a kingdom virtue. Your Father God is a worker, so you cannot be a lazy child. Why won’t you work (John 5:17)? Work is not a curse. It is a blessing. It is your platform to realise and release your potential. There is more in you than what you currently see.

Don’t see work as a burden. Rather, see it as your opportunity to make meaningful contributions to the kingdom and the world at large (Ephesians 4:28). It is your platform for impact and income follows impact. Anyone who encourages you to work and work smart is your friend, not your enemy. Move with people who inspire you (Proverbs 13:20).

You need full-time commitment to your career, business, ministry, etc. How can you call yourself a full-time minister without full-time commitment (John 4:34)? All of us should be full-time. If you don’t do life full-time, you won’t get full reward out of it. Face your academics, career, and business full-time. Do your Christian life full-time (John 8:31-32). Don’t give a parital commitment.

Laziness does not pay bills. Instead of waiting for your dream job, why not pick up the job that is available now (Matthew 20:7)? Sometimes, your dream job will come through the job you are currently doing. I know you plan to start that business big, why not start from where you are and keep growing? Successful people don’t wait for perfect conditions. They make their conditions perfect (Proverbs 22:13).

Christianity and laziness don’t go together (1 Timothy 4:15). Christians are supposed to be examples in the world. We should be the best on campus and workplaces. We should stand out in business. Full-time pastors should stop sitting idle. Ministry is work. Pastoring requires commitment. Any gospel that does not show in your everyday life and endeavour is a fake gospel (Matthew 5:16).
