I was about praying for a dear one in Church one day when the Holy Spirit reminded me that what I was praying for this fellow was the same thing I went through just a few weeks before then. God gave me victory. When I told the person, his faith was boosted; he got the victory!
Friend, one lie the devil can make you believe is the lie that what you are going through is peculiar to you. He would bring thoughts like; “Your situation is unique, no one has ever gone through it. You are the most unfortunate person to have been going through this. You must have done something wrong. God must be angry with you. It is because you are not strong etc.” Never fall for these lies.
“There has no temptation taken you but such as is common to man…” (1 Corinthians 10:13). This is the Bible truth. No temptation! There is nothing you are going through today that someone has not gone through before you and that someone would not still go through after you. Your situation cannot be the worst. There are people in scriptures and in our contemporary world who have gone through the same thing (Romans 15:4).
One of the reasons that God made Jesus to go through all He went through is because of you and I. He was tempted at all points yet without sin (Hebrews 4:15-16). Jesus could feel for us and feel with us because He was just like us. This is to encourage you that you are not alone in whatever you are going through; betrayal, lack, loss, pain, disappointment etc.
Be encouraged knowing that others have gone through something similar to what you are going through (Romans 15:4). Learn from their stories and victories. The bible stories and characters were carefully chosen for our learning (James 5:10-11). It is from the “comfort of scriptures” that we have hope and assurance to forge ahead in our own journey.
Let what you are going through make you better and not bitter (James 1:4). This is the real deal. It is not meant to break you; it is meant to make you a blessing. It is when you have been comforted that you can comfort others who are going through stuff (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). Raise your head up high and don’t allow any situation to define or weigh you down. You have overcome!
