As a teenager, I would save money to buy cassette messages. One day, I spent all my money on cassettes at a distant bookshop, leaving no fare for the return trip. Despite the long distance, my excitement and hunger for spiritual growth and greatness motivated me to walk back home despite the long distance. Hunger made me do it.

Friend, hunger is a blessing (Matthew 5:6). You need to pray and position yourself for the right hunger. Where your hunger stops is where your growth stops and where your growth stops is where your greatness stops (Daniel 1:8). You need to surround yourself with relationships and activities that fuel your hunger.

What are you hungry for? If you are hungry for God and the things of the Spirit, it would show in your attitude and devotion towards the same (Psalms 63:1-3). At the age of 12, Jesus was hungry for God’s house and purpose. No wonder he fulfilled an unusual purpose and destiny (Luke 2:46-52). Your hunger is a reflection of your purpose.

Don’t let anyone steal the right hunger from you (Psalms 1:1-3). There are times that others are hungry for the latest phones, hairdo, clothes, etc. But you are hungry for God, growth, and destiny. Follow that hunger, and don’t let anyone talk you out of it. While others spend their money on frivolities, you should spend yours on things that would enhance your destiny (Isaiah 55:1-5).

Esau was hungry for porridge. Jacob was hungry for leadership and future greatness. They had a transaction. Esau sold tomorrow’s purpose for today’s pleasure. Jacob bought tomorrow’s greatness today (Genesis 25:27-34). Hunger is your purchasing power. With the right hunger, there is no height you cannot attain in life and destiny.

Greatest beckons. But what price would you pay for it? It would not be easy, but it would be worth it (Philippians 3:10-14). Rather than responding to the distractions around, why not respond to purpose? Rather than spending time and money on pleasures and frivolities, why not invest in your walk with the Lord and the fulfilment of your destiny (Acts 6:4)? How hungry are you?
