As we concluded our national youth service that year, a young man approached me and said; “I wish I had the same: background you had. It would have made a difference in my life. I know I lack the right training.” I told him; “It’s not too late. You can pick it up from here and get trained.” I thank God I did not waste my training.

Friend, don’t waste your training. Your training is what determines your reigning (2 Timothy 1:6). Your training is a reflection of your future. You must never get into your future with incomplete preparation and impartation. God is always preparing you for what He’s prepared for you (1 Corinthians 2:9). But the question is, are you maximizing your training?

You waste your training when you don’t pay attention to your training (1 Timothy 4:15). In life, there would be many unconscious teachers or trainers, but you must not be an unconscious learner. Make up your mind to maximise the training involved in every relationship and opportunity that you come across (Acts 16:1-5, Philippians 4:9).

You waste your training when you don’t perform up to the level of your training (2 Kings 4:29-31). Your destiny will always call for the training that you have been through. If you fail to show up when destiny calls, you have wasted your training. David did not waste his training when he faced Goliath (1 Samuel 17:34-51). He simply showed up.

You need to show up. You need to rise to the occasion when destiny calls (Psalm 78:70-72). Failing to show up when your opportunity comes is not humility. It is laziness or irresponsibility. God is a good investor. He will always come seeking dividends from the investments that He has made in our lives (Luke 19:13-26). Don’t disappoint Him.

Your training is one of your greatest assets in life (Luke 6:40). It is what sets you apart from the crowd. Every man is ordinary until trained. Your talent, gifts, and calling will not amount to much unless they are trained (Genesis 14:14). Elisha, Timothy, Esther, etc. all maximised their training. But Gehazi did not. Don’t be a Gehazi. Don’t waste your training.
