I recently reminisced about the only phone I lost, 18 years ago, at a wedding. I was so caught up in the celebration, dancing with joy, that I didn’t notice my phone slipping away. It wasn’t until I returned to my seat that I realized it was gone. It’s ironic how something precious can be lost in a moment of celebration. Don’t lose your guard.
Friend, don’t lose your guard. There is no vacation in the Christian life (2 Timothy 4:2). Our Christianity should be in season and out of season. Whether in June or December, our spiritual sensitivity must be high. Whether you are in your home country or out of the country, you should not be out of touch with God and spiritual things (Psalm 137:1-6).
Like Daniel, don’t use the excuse of change of environment for spiritual laxity (Daniel 1:8). Don’t let festivity rub you of your place in God and destiny. Stay at alert. Be on guard at all times. Precious things can be lost in careless moments. Like Esau, don’t lose your birthright because of mere porridge (Hebrews 12:16).
Don’t make important decisions when you are emotionally unstable (Proverbs 18:14). Like Herod, don’t promise the head of John the Baptist because you are happy. Like Moses, don’t break God’s commandments because you are angry. Like Elijah, don’t give in to death because of discouragement (1 Kings 19:1-4).
The first outpouring of the Holy Spirit came during a festivitity. It was the day of the pentecost celebration (Acts 2:1-4). You can catch fire in the midst of festivity. Don’t lose fire because of fun. Learn to combine fun and fire. Let the manifestation of the Holy Spirit mark your experience this season. Stay aglow (Ephesians 5:18).
Casual moments can turn to significant moments for you depending on who you yield to (2 Samuel 11:1-5). If you yield to your flesh, it would waste your time and clog your spirit. If you yield to the devil, it would destroy your destiny. But if you yield to the Spirit, it would take you to the next level of greatness with God and destiny (Galatians 6:7-8). Don’t lose your guard.
