A young man attended a travel visa interview. While others left the room looking dejected, some even crying, he entered with confidence, speaking and assuring himself of God’s favour. Unlike the others, he smiled as he exited – his visa was approved. His positive mindset and faith had made the difference. He aligned his words with his prayers and desires.

Friend, what you say is more important than what you pray. Most people pray correctly, but they speak negatively (Luke 1:20). Your life is more likely to be influenced by your words than by your prayers. Training yourself to speak positively may be more important than training yourself to pray well.

Align your words with your prayers (Ephesians 3:20). Perhaps the angel of God silenced Zachariah so that he wouldn’t cancel his miracle with his words (Luke 1:62-64). Have you used your words to cancel your own miracles? Have you spoken negatively, aborting God’s plans?

If you won’t speak positively, don’t expect miracles (Numbers 14:28). Like Isaiah, many need God to touch their tongues (Isaiah 6:5-8). A genuine encounter with God changes your perspective and words. When your words change, your life changes (Mark 11:23).

Be mindful of what you allow into your heart, as it affects your words (Proverbs 4:23). Choose positive influences and be aware of your surroundings. Your words reflect your heart (Luke 6:45). If your heart is loaded with the right words, your mouth would speak the same. Let God’s word fill your heart.

Aligning your words with your prayers takes time, but it’s key to answered prayers (Psalm 107:2). There are no delayed answers, only prayers waiting for alignment. Meditate consciously to align your words and prayers (Psalm 39:3). Let your prayers come from your heart, not just your mouth.
