I once heard the story of a young man on campus who claimed to be a man of God. As a student, he wouldn’t attend classes. Sometimes, he would lock up himself in a room, praying for days without bathing or brushing his teeth. People tried to counsel and help him, but he wouldn’t listen. He failed woefully and eventually left the campus. Nobody heard of him since then; he had fizzled out.
Friend, don’t be super spiritual (Isaiah 8:19). What some people call supernatural is just being super spiritual. It is taking spirituality to the extreme. Any spirituality that lacks practicality is extremism. In a bid to walk in the supernatural, some people are into spiritism. They say and practise things that cannot be substantiated by the word of God (Isaiah 8:20).
The supernatural life is not a mystery. It is what the believer has been called into (John 3:5-8). As a believer, you are not trying to be supernatural. You are already one. You only need to be conscious of your supernaturalness. When believers don’t know who they are and what they have, they become victims of deception (1 John 2:20, 27).
The supernatural is simply divinity upon our humanity. When you leave out your humanity in pursuit of divinity, you are already in stupidity (Hebrews 10:5-7). This is why, sometimes, people mock our Christianity. We present a God who does not reason. We present a God who seems not to be in touch with reality (Hebrews 4:15-16).
A supernatural man or woman is one who lives by the word and the Spirit of God (Acts 6:4). If you find any or both of these absent in a person’s life, what you are looking at is someone who is super spiritual or given to spiritism. You cannot travel far in the realm of the spirit without the word of God. If you do, Satan will entertain you somewhere (Luke 4:1-4).
The supernatural is simply God’s super coming upon your natural (1 Corinthians 15:10). If you don’t provide God something natural to work with, His power won’t find expression in your life. Give God something to work with in your life. Be available in prayer. Work on your career or business. Bring practicality to your spirituality, and you would live the supernatural life (2 Kings 4:1-7). Don’t be super spiritual.
