“A man is not totally free until truth declares his freedom.” This is one profound statement I heard earlier in my Christian walk. It made me give priority to God’s word and my growth in the things of God. I learnt that, beyond deliverance, God wants us to grow and fulfil His purpose for our lives. This truth will help you, too.
Friend, there is a life beyond deliverance. When it comes to the subject of deliverance, you need to realise that God does not only want you delivered, He also wants you to move on and fulfil destiny (Luke 8:2-3). Therefore, deliverance is not an end in itself. It is only a means to an end. We have been delivered from the power of Satan so that we can serve God and His purpose for our lives (Luke 1:74).
A New Testament minister is one who delivers you by the anointing of the Holy Spirit and empowers you by the wisdom of God’s word (Mark 5:15-20). Until you are empowered by God’s word, deliverance is not yet complete. Thus, a man is not totally free until truth declares his freedom. Jesus has set you free, but truth is what makes you free. It is a journey (John 8:31-32).
What happens to you after deliverance matters. Actually, we must move from deliverance to discipleship (Matthew 28:18-20). There is the reality of retuning demon. It matters where you are and what you do before a demon returns. Just as nature forbids vacuum, the realm of the spirit also forbids vacuum. You are either filled with positive things or you become a victim of negative spirits (Luke 11:24-26).
You need discipleship. You need to be taught who you are in Christ, what you have in Christ, and how to walk in the consciousness of these (Ephesians 4:20-21). Your life needs to be filled with the word of God and the Spirit of God, as well as spiritual activities that engage you for God and destiny. This is the only way to stay free and fulfil destiny (Matthew 11:28-30).
If you always need deliverance, then you need to check your pursuits and practices. What you are pursuing is what delivers you from what is pursuing you (Philippians 3:10-14). This is why God puts you in a church family where the right structures that would engage you for life and destiny are put in place (Psalms 68:6). Truly, it is either God engages you or the devil entangles you.
