Recently, my son was with me in the office, engaged with his tablet. Later, he wanted to get outside. I held him back so I could keep a close eye on him and also because his device was connected to my phone’s hotspot. Despite my warnings, he slipped out, and I couldn’t help but smile when I heard his cry of frustration – his connection had been lost. I got reminded of the need to maintain your connection with God.

Friend, you need to maintain your connection with God (Psalm 27:4). The truth is, it is easier to lose connection with God if you don’t pay attention to your relationship and fellowship. Maintaining connection with God is something you need to do intentionally (Psalm 63:1-2). Like someone rightly said; “If you seem far away from God, guess who moved?”

Like Adam, a lot of people have moved away from God’s presence, some without even knowing it (Genesis 3:8-9). I know that the new creation is a carrier of God’s presence, but the manifestation of that presence is not automatic. We need to stay connected. We need to know how to activate the flow of grace and power in our lives daily (2 Corinthians 13:14).

Sometimes, frustration can be a blessing (Psalm 119:71). It helps you to know you have lost connection and to retrace your step. Like my son, sometimes, people think they can do without God until they meet with frustration. It was the frustration of the prodigal son that prompted him to get back home (Luke 15:14-18).

You also need to get back home. You need to get back to the place where you are close to the Father and where the connection is intact (Revelation 2:4-5). You need to get to the place of intimacy and fellowship. Like my son’s tablet, if your life is not working, check your connection. God has not moved. You might have moved (Job 22:21-23).

Don’t get so familiar with God that you think you can do without Him (John 15:5). Maintain your daily quiet time or devotion. Sustain conversations with God as you go through your career and business daily. Prayerise your life by praying in the Spirit, everywhere, and every time. Do all you can to stay connected (Philippians 3:10).
